How to customize command prompt in windows 7

The appearance of the Command Prompt window can be customized, You can change the size of the font, color of the text or font, and even the background colors within the command prompt window. Moreover create any number of command prompt shortcuts if you use it for numerous purposes so that you can assign a color format for each shortcut of the command prompt.

In order to customize a command prompt window you will have to adjust the settings in the property dialog box and you can change it in the following ways.

Simply type command in the search box and you will be able to see the command prompt option simply right click it and select properties option. Whatever changes that will be made here will affect all the future command prompt options.

Select control menu icon in the command prompt window to access the properties dialog box. If you are using the command prompt in the full screen mode than press Alt + Enter Key to display window. You will be prompted to apply the changes as soon as you try to close the properties dialog box. If you select yes all the changes you have made will be applied and it will use the newly applied settings.

If you select the control menu icon in the command prompt window and choose defaults from control menu it will affect all the future sessions of the command prompt (Except for those command prompt shortcuts whose properties have already been customized). It will also affect the character-mode and even the MS-DOS based applications which does not have a PIF (Program-information file) and do not have their own settings.

Tweaking Edit options

In the option tab you can select numerous option that will change the way your command prompt window is operated. You can now Enable or Disable the QuickEdit Mode. This is a very useful option which helps you to copy text from command prompt windows using the mouse itself. If you do not select the QuickEdit mode then you will have to make use of the commands on the Control menu in order to copy and paste the text you can also enable and disable the Insert Mode.

Note: If you are using the third method, You can choose the default option, In order to enable and disable the AutoComplete option, which is enabled by default.
